
The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation and Paris 2024 have revealed the competition schedule for wheelchair basketball at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, set to take place from 29 August to 8 September.
The competitions will be held at the Bercy Arena, located in the heart of Paris. Eight men’s and eight women’s national teams will compete for the highly coveted Paralympic medals.

Both the men’s and women’s tournaments at Paris 2024 will commence on 29 August, the day after the Opening Ceremony. The first match will be an all-European affair, with Great Britain taking on Germany in the men’s Group A match at 10:30 CEST. The women’s competition will begin in the same session at 12:45, with European silver medallists Great Britain facing another European counterpart, Spain, in the women’s Group A encounter.
The pool stages for both tournaments will continue until 2 September, followed by knockout matches starting on 3 September. The format includes a round-robin phase within the groups, leading to quarter-finals, semi-finals and then the finals. The men’s finals will be held on 7 September, with the women’s finals taking place on 8 September.

Women’s competition
The group draw for the wheelchair basketball competition at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games took place on 14 June. The draw has generated excitement and anticipation among athletes and fans alike, as the world’s top teams prepare to compete for glory in Paris.
In the women’s competition, Group A features Great Britain, China, Canada and Spain, ensuring a competitive and exciting series of matches. Group B, featuring the World and Paralympic champions the Netherlands, along with Japan, USA and Germany, is expected to be equally compelling, with each team bringing their unique strengths to the court.

Men’s competition
In the men’s competition, Group A features a blend of European powerhouses, with hosts France choosing to join the group with European champions Great Britain, as well as Germany and Canada, who have a rich legacy at the Paralympics. This promises intense and high-calibre games.
Meanwhile, Group B showcases defending champions USA and other strong contenders such as Spain, the Netherlands, and Australia.
